Location: San Diego, CA | General Contractor: Turner Construction Company
Scope of Work: Furnish and Install perimeter security package for the new Navy Headquarters building, the Manchester Gateway Project, in San Diego.
The Navy Headquarters physical security design and installation was performed to protect the sensitive military site’s interior and exterior from forced or unwelcome visitors. This project included a physical security consulting by PSG’s Director of Physical Security and the subsequent awarding of the perimeter security installation contract by Turner Construction.
The Navy security installation included exterior perimeter force protection of forty-four K12 crash rated, deep foundation, fixed bollards with stainless steel covers, sixteen K12 anti ram bollards that are removable, a series of secured entries with automated K12 electric bollards enhanced with vehicle safety loop detection as well as remote operation or on-site secured manual controls.
Further exterior physical security installations included parking control systems consisting of traffic control gates with card reader access tied into the central site access control system and the guard station. Further parking access physical security was bolstered with additional K12 crash rated drop arm gates powered by electronically controlled hydraulic system.
A free-standing, bullet proof, heated and cooled, guard station was installed on the site build by Perimeter Security Group and connected to integrate with the automated physical security systems and central site security system.
Inside the Navy building’s installation were further additional security installations including secured entry turnstiles with card reader access tied into the site’s central access control system. Further details of the security installation can not be revealed.
